AUX ARMES ET CAETERA
The soul wounds of French soldiers
“POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER IS LIKE A HORROR MOVIE IN YOUR HEAD.”
ELIO, 12
Talking about French servicemen killed or wounded in action is not fashionable. Showing their psychological wounds - by definition invisible - is taboo.
Giving a voice to those who are victims means understanding the roots of this insidious evil. It is also a way of inviting the public authorities to provide better care for these wounded and to support those who, through their unwavering commitment, have served our country's values.
A photographer in the Army from 2006 to 2016, and now a freelance photojournalist, Jérémy Lempin pays tribute to his former brothers-in-arms by showing the suffering endured by soldiers suffering from PTSD, and the consequences for their families.
