About the CIP

Ever since its first edition in 1989, Visa pour l’Image-Perpignan Festival has defended and encouraged the work of photojournalists. The CIP aims to consolidate the festival’s heritage by defending, promoting and developing all forms of photojournalism as a vital tool to preserve our collective memory, witness and record history as it unfolds before us, and defend the freedom of expression across the world.

The CIP’s goals are to:

Build an archive of photojournalism across the ages that is accessible internationally.

Host an extensive collection of photojournalistic work for purposes of research, based online or, for non-digital material, in specially fitted archival storage spaces.

Initiate and support projects that promote photojournalism:  publications, exhibitions, multimedia products, conferences and workshops.

Implement education programs about images.
